Hróður Ólafs hefur vaxið jafnt og þétt frá því hann gaf út fyrstu plötuna sína Eulogy for Evolution árið 2007 og má ætla að hann skipi hóp efnilegustu og færustu ungu tónskálda heims. Í tónverkum hans gætir áhrifa úr ólíkum áttum; en með því að blanda saman klassík, poppi og elektróník verður til einstök smíði.

 

Ólafur hefur verið afkastamikill síðustu ár og ekki síst á sviði kvikmyndatónlistar. Tónlist eftir hann hefur hljómað í Hollywood kvikmyndum, t.d. The Hunger Games og vinsælum sjónvarpsþáttum eins og So You Think You Can Dance. Ekkert lát er á slíkum tónsmíðum því árið 2013 verður unnt að hlýða á verk hans í nýrri sjónvarpsþáttaröð frá ITV og í kvikmyndinni Gimme Shelter eftir Ron Krauss svo fátt eitt sé nefnt.

Born 1986 in the suburban Icelandic town of Mosfellsbær, a few kilometers outside of Reykjavík, composer/performer Ólafur Arnalds has always enjoyed pushing boundaries with both his studio work and live-shows. Since the release of his debut album Eulogy for Evolution in 2007 he has built up a dedicated international following and is well established for his genre-crossing compositions blending classical, pop and ambient/electronica influences to a unique musical language.

 

More recently Ólafur has been venturing into the world of films, writing his first Hollywood film score to Another Happy Day. He also had music in the hit film The Hunger Games and has been featured several times on popular American television show So You Think You Can Dance. Recent projects include his BAFTA nominated score to the new ITV thriller series Broadchurch as well as to the film Gimme Shelter.
